Dennis Mutton and Sandra Di Blasio were elected to the Board of Directors of the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork at its 2012 annual general meeting in Melbourne.
Re-elected were Professor Simon Maddocks, Rod Hamann and Chris Trengrove.
The Pork CRC Board now comprises Dr John Keniry (Chairman), Kathryn Adams, Sandra Di Blasio, Rod Hamann, Professor Simon Maddocks, Dennis Mutton, Professor John Pluske, Kenton Shaw, Andrew Spencer, Chris Trengrove, Professor Robert van Barneveld and Dr Hugh Wirth.
The four research programs of the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork are:
1.Confinement free sow and piglet management
2.Herd health management
3.Healthy pork consumption
4.Carbon-conscious nutrient inputs and outputs
Mutton, BSc.(Hons), Grad Dip Mgt, JP,FAICD, is an Adelaide based independent consultant in resource planning and development, administration of R&D, leadership, strategic management and regional development.
He is chair of the Council of Rural R&D Corporations, BioInnovation SA and the Native Vegetation Council of SA and was previously Chair of The Grape and Wine R&D Corporation and Director of CRC Viticulture.
Mutton is a Member of the Premier’s Science and Industry Council, TAFE SA Regional Council and a Director of WPG Resources Ltd.
His distinguished career in the South Australian Public Service includes Chief Executive of Primary Industries and Resources SA, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Woods and Forests Department.
A qualified accountant with extensive experience in auditing, risk management, governance and process improvement, Di Blasio, BA (Accounting), CPA, MAICD, has been a member of the Pork CRC Audit Committee since May 2012.
She has worked in the public and private sectors in Adelaide and Sydney, across industries ranging from commercial government operations to airports, tourism and banking.
Di Blasio’s most recent role was Head of Operational Risk for BT Financial Group.
She currently serves on several boards, including a national not for profit and a public unlisted company, with her board roles incorporating Chairperson, Treasurer and Chairperson of Finance and Governance subcommittee.
After chairing the AGM and announcing the election results, Pork CRC chairman,
Dr John Keniry, welcomed Mutton and Di Blasio to the Board, saying he looked forward to them making substantial contributions to the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork as it moved into its second year and began to have a very real impact.
“Although only early days, the Pork CRC is already making positive inroads into the areas of pig welfare, animal and human health and carbon management,” he said.
