Brazilian meat processor JBS has agreed to purchase pigs and the processing facility from local rival BRF for BRL200 million (€76.17 million).

JBS is to pay BRL80 million (€30.47 million) for the pigs (approximately 491,000) and BRL120 million (€45.74 million) for the Unidade Industrial Ana Rech processing unit and farm properties in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state.

The industrial unit can process about 3,500 hogs per day, the company said.

The deal has to now get the approval of the Brazilian Anti-Trust Authorities – CADE.
