German pork consumption per capita dropped in 2011

07-03-2012 | | |

An agricultural agency has deciphered that total pork consumption per person in Germany came down in 2011. Germany is the European Union’s most important pork market.

The German Agricultural Market Information Company (AMI) said that in 2011, total consumption per capita decreased by 1.2 kg to 38.5 kg. This development would partly be related to a higher price level.

Another reason would be a bad grilling season. Total meat consumption per capita decreased as well, by 1.1 kg to 60.6 kg.
