Environmental enrichment for pigs

The provision of environmental enrichment for pigs is still a contentious issue, despite the fact that it is now a legal requirement for EU producers. Identifying materials, which provide effective enrichment for the pig in unbedded system is imperative, given that the majority of EU producers are still using part- or fully-slatted systems. UK researchers compared different types of environmental enrichment in an attempt to find alternative forms.
