Diamond V introduces new feed additive SynGenX

Iowa-based Diamond V has introduced the new feed additive SynGenX at the 2013 World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa.

The feed additive naturally supports digestive and immune system health by promoting a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria in the pig’s gastrointestinal tract. As a result pigs gain weight faster, have increased feed intake and better feed conversion.

In addition, a healthy bacterial balance helps optimise immune function and the overall health of the piglet. Improved levels of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria stimulate increased in vitro butyrate production. Butyrate, an important energy source for cells lining the pig’s colon, contributes to GI system integrity and performance.

“SynGenX gives producers an innovative new tool to step up performance and production,” said Dan Mueller, Diamond V swine business development manager. “It’s an all-natural tool that takes gut health and productivity to the next level.”

Multiple controlled research studies validate the efficacy of the feed additive when fed daily. The dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation-based feed additive is generally recognised as safe (GRAS) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A proprietary anaerobic, microbial fermentation technology unique to Diamond V is used in the manufacturing of the novel feed additive. SynGenX is unaffected by extreme temperatures, pH or processing and does not require special storage.

The product shall be available on the North American market for now, with global launches to follow at a later stage.
