Danish company Danosha has launched its sixth pig farm in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine, according to the company. The farm is designed to keep 24,000 heads of pigs.
According to Tom Axelgaard, the CEO of Axzon (Danosha’s mother company), this farm is an example of the newest technology not only in the pig production but also in construction as the building works quality at Danosha has increased considerably during the ten years’ operation in Prykarpattia area. The total investment in the construction since 2012 have been amounted to UAH 110 million (US$ 7 million).
Local media Interfax-Ukraine quoted the deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Development of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Administration Ivan Andriishyn, as saying that Danosha is currently construction the other one pig farm in the same region, near the village of Marijampole. Danosha also plans to launch the construction of a biogas plant in 2015.
The representatives of the company added that they will use dry pellets to feed the pigs, which consisting of grains and vitamins, and produced domestically.
Danosha started implementing the large-scale pig project in Ukraine in 2004 and currently the company has the facilities to keep of 161,000 heads of pigs, according to the official data of the company. The launching of two new pig farms will enable it to become one of the largest producers of pork in Ukraine.
