Canada ZF Investments purchase Genesus
Canada ZF Investments are proceeding with the purchase of Genesus and its subsidiaries as part of planned restructuring. There will therefore be a new merged entity, Genesus Genetic Technologies, operating globally.
Eurolysine: A new Avril company
Avril, in association with BPI France, have taken over of the activities of Metex Noovistago and part of the R&D activities of Metabolic Explorer. Avril is the 5th largest agri-food group in France while BPI France is the French Public Investment Bank. As part of this takeover, Avril will continue to produce and sell fermentation-derived amino acids, including lysine, tryptophan, valine, arginine, leucine, and isoleucine. The company’s new name is Eurolysine.
Ceremony marks start of jv nucleus farm in China
A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place in China’s Gansu province marking the start of a nucleus farm as part of a joint venture between Topigs Norsvin and Muyuan Foods. The farm will have a capacity of 1,200 sows and will house maternal and terminal sire lines, forming a breeding infrastructure that will provide genetics for Muyuan and other producers in China.
Nutreco wants to buy AECI Animal Health South Africa
Nutreco has announced its intention to acquire Chemfit Fine Chemicals Proprietary Limited t/a AECI Animal Health in South Africa. “We recognise the immense potential of the region, having already taken significant steps in 2016 with the acquisition of Advit,” the company wrote. AECI was founded in 2002 and has nationwide distribution from their manufacturing site in the Eastern Cape. The acquisition is anticipated to be in the 4th quarter of 2024.
Boehringer Ingelheim launches decision-making tool for PCVAD
To help producers and veterinarians make informed decisions about their porcine circovirus associated disease (PCVAD) management strategies, Boehringer Ingelheim has launched the PCV2 Decision Tree. The free digital tool walks users through a series of questions to help identify potential problem areas, paint a picture of a herd’s disease situation and generate a personalised protocol recommendation.
PIC nutrition launches updated nutrition and feeding guidelines
An updated version of the PIC Nutrition and Feeding Guidelines is now available on the PIC website, both in imperial or metric versions. Updates include lysine Recommendations for PIC 800 sired pigs, a section on mature boars, gestation feeding and body condition management, and various other nutritional recommendations.
Iron supplement gets approval in multiple countries
Danish company Jorenku has received approval of Triple-Iron, an iron supplement for pigs, in several international markets and is now authorised for sale by the authorities in Australia, Vietnam, Switzerland, and Korea. The company is working on approval in Malaysia and China.
Fishmeal replacement for pig diets
Omegapro is a slow-release, sustainable product, designed to support the health, growth and fertility of pigs and poultry. The product by UFAC UK incorporates a blend of marine oils, amino acids, glycerine and minerals, processed on a base of soya and vegetable protein concentrates, to provide the equivalent benefits of fishmeal.
ADM: traceable soybean meal and oil for Europe
With EU deforestation regulations coming into effect on 30 December, ADM has announced that it is offering verified, segregated, traceable soybean meal and oil to European customers.
ABC-4 promoted at the 2024 Pig Feed Quality Conference
The Pig Feed Quality Conference was organised this year in May and June in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Major themes were factors affecting immunity, and piglet health through nutrition. The interest of the concept of ABC-4 (Acid Binding Capacity) value was also highlighted in various technical presentations.
DSM-Firmenich presents results of mycotoxin survey
DSM-Firmenich has released the results of the World Mycotoxin Survey from January to June 2024. A total of 11,520 samples were collected and analysed from 77 countries worldwide. The results concluded that Fusarium mycotoxins, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisins are most frequently found, with the highest regions of mycotoxins found in North and Central America, South Asia, South East Asia and China and Taiwan.
Mycotoxin management platform launched
Adisseo has launched Mycoman, a digital platform for mycotoxin management. The tool helps users to anticipate mycotoxin contamination with prevision through partner Syngenta, as well as assisting to screen feed, improve mycotoxin management, manage risks, and protect animals.
