The European Commission has approved the proposed acquisition by Dutch company, Vion of the UK’s Grampian.
After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
The Commission’s analysis of the proposed transaction showed that the parties’ activities would mainly overlap in the fresh and processed pork markets.
However, given the minimal increase in market share in the fresh pork market and the parties’ relatively low market shares in the processed pork market, no competition concerns arise.
