Vion Ingredients to acquire BAIC Protein in Australia

With the acquisition of BAIC Protein in Maryborough, Queensland, Vion Ingredients has commenced the production of blood plasma and haemoglobin in Australia.

BAIC Protein will become part of the Vion Ingredients daughter company Sonac. This will also enable Sonac to provide services globally to its international clients.
 
The production of blood plasma and haemoglobin in Australia is in line with Vion Ingredients’ strategy to gain international positions on the worldwide market for blood products.
 
This acquisition will provide Vion Ingredients with improved access to the rapidly developing Asian market.
 
Sonac processes animal by-products from the meat industry into useful, high-quality ingredients such as fats, proteins and minerals for application in a variety of sectors. Sonac is the number two on the world market for blood products.
 
BAIC Protein produces blood plasma and haemoglobin. The company employs 20 staff and is based in Maryborough, Queensland, Australia. BAIC Protein’s name will be changed to Sonac Australia.
