The Vietnamese veterinary department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported that many provinces across the country have successfully controlled the recent outbreak of blue-ear pig disease.
Most recently, the northern Thai Nguyen province, the Central Highlands Lam Dong province and the Southern Vinh Long province have declared they are free from the disease with no new outbreaks being discovered over the past 21 days.
The Southern provinces of Bac Lieu and Soc Trang are the only provinces currently reporting blue-ear disease . Despite the developments, the veterinary department has warned that no negligence can be allowed in the prevention.
To continue carrying out preventive measures, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has signed an official dispatch asking localities in the Mekong River Delta and south-eastern provinces to strictly inspect breeding grounds and slaughterhouses to promptly detect any possible outbreaks.
