Statistics show that the US pork production figures have increased from October 2006 from the previous year.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agriculture Statistics Service, US pork production totalled 1.92 billion pounds (870.89 million kg). This is a record for October. Pork output for the month was 6% higher than in October 2005.
Market pig kill totalled 9.64 million head – 6% more than in October 2005. The average live weight was unchanged from the previous year, at 269 pounds (122kg).
