US: Pork plant receives bomb threat

Quality Pork Processors evacuated its Austin, Minnesota, processing plant.

The evacuation took place on Wednesday; as the company received a bomb threat. According to reports, Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp has stated that only that QPP “elected to remove employees from the plant.” QPP has over 1,300 people that are employed.

Hormel plant unaffected
QPP is a co-packer with Hormel Foods, its only customer. An adjacent Hormel plant was not affected by the reported bomb threat, stated reports. Philipp said that the incident is still under investigation.

There has been no time given in terms of how long production was disrupted.

No comment has been made on the incident.
