Pig producers will have the chance to visit an abattoir to experience the post-farmgate process from lairage to final packed product, when Vion’s Malton abattoir opens its doors on 14th September 2011.
The day – organised by BPEX – will also include: • the importance of understanding your abattoir contract • a vet talking about the British Pig Health Scheme and showing examples of poor health on the line • a talk about Salmonella by the BPEX health team.
