The Pork Checkoff, National Hog Farmer magazine, the National Pork Producers Council, NutriDense, Newsham Choice Genetics, Pfizer Animal Health and Farm Credit Services of America have partnered to sponsor the Swine Handling and Transport Forum on the eve of the 2009 World Pork Expo, at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown in Des Moines, Iowa.
The forum will provide producers, swine handlers and transporters with information regarding the management of pigs before, during and after transportation, with a strong emphasis on animal well-being. The forum will convene pork producers, their employees, livestock haulers and the industry’s customers to discuss current issues in the handling and movement of pigs. A glimpse into Europe’s experience with the increased regulation of animal transportation will also be provided.
The June 2 program will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register to attend the forum, but on-site registrations will be accepted.©
