Automated Production Systems (AP), an industry-leading manufacturer of swine feeding and ventilation systems, announced that it has partnered with Schauer Agrotronic GmbH, combining Schauer’s 25 years of electronic sow feeding technology with AP’s presence in the US market.
Al Deutsch, president of the Protein Division for GSI Group Inc., of which AP is a part, signed an agreement with Herbert Schauer, managing director of Schauer, forming a new partnership that now offers the Compident Electronic Sow Feeding unit to the US market through AP sales and support.
Concerns for the welfare of confined sows have led to legislative, industry and corporate policies to phase out the use of gestation crates and push for alternative housing systems. The AP/Schauer Compident electronic sow feeding system is ideal for the group housing of gestating sows due to its flexibility in implementation. It can be retrofitted in existing facilities and is a cost-effective solution to group housing in new facilities.
