Storms impact US pork industry

Severe winter storms in the United States’ Mid West have been forcing pork processors to cut production.

The hardest-hit areas in terms of affecting livestock movement and transportation in general are from South East Iowa across the states of Illinois and Indiana.

Several livestock transporters refused to drive earlier this week as winds and snow had created bad driving conditions and poor visibility on many roads.

Tyson Foods’s pork plant in Logansport, Indiana, even had to cancel shifts this week.
