The Dutch company Schippers, a large player in the field of day-to-day livestock farming equipment, celebrates its 40th anniversary at the end of this year.
In 1967, founder Martien Schippers laid down the basis of the company as it currently exists. The current organisation has developed into a company with 170 employees, active in 40 countries and with an annual turnover of €60 million.
In 1997, Martien Schippers’ three sons Harrie, Mark and Guus took over. Over the last ten years the company has shown average annual growth of 20%.
Innovative and flexible
In a press release, the company says its success is related to ‘an innovative and flexible attitude’.
“Schippers is constantly occupied in improving current methods and products for livestock producers. The company’s mentality can be described as ‘no nonsense’ resulting in fast and consistent service for customers.”
Export
The company started supplying goods beyond its native Netherlands in 1997. With owned sales offices, the company gained ground in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Philippines, Canada, UK and Denmark.
In other countries the company’s export department ensures strong links between head office and agents, resellers and end users.
In order to meet the growing demands from the market, the company will start expanding its current distribution centre in Lommel, Belgium, by the end of this year, doubling current capacity.
