Russian pig breeding up 6%

Pig breeding in Russia has risen by approximately 6% in the period between January and September.

This message was stated by agricultural minister Alexei Gordeyev. He said altogether Russia’s meat production grew by 4%, about 5,700 tonnes, of which the pig rates were among the best. Major pig breeding farms even increased production by 12.5%.

The leading meat producing regions are the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Penza and Moscow regions and the Krasnodar territory.

Faster development


Faster livestock farming development is one of the aims of the agro-industrial complex development national project. It is expected to push up the production of meat by 7% over a two-year period.
