Russian minister foresees pork self-sufficiency

Russia will be able to produce as much pork as it needs within a few years.

A Russian official has stated that the country would be able to produce as much poultry meat and even may produce as much pork as it needs within approximately four years, according to reports.

Viktor Zubkov, first deputy prime minister has stated at a news conference that Russia would be able to be self sufficient with poultry “within the next two to three years. He also stated that “we also have a chance to fully provide ourselves with pork within three to four years.”

According to Zubkov, Russia produced 8% more pork and 18% more poultry last year©than in 2007.
