Russia: African swine fever found in new region

In the Russian Astrakhanskaya region, new infections of African swine fever have been discovered.

The area – situated North of the Caspian Sea in Southern Russia – has never had a confirmed infection of African Swine Fever before.

Experts suspect that the virus occurred in the area for a longer time. The virus was found in dead pigs at various places in the area. Measures have been taken to prevent further spreading.
