Pork Magazine symposium discussing pork chain

Pork Magazine has announced a special event featuring high-profile food-chain speakers discussing the future of the pork industry.

The first annual Responsible Pork Symposium will take place on 5-7 February, 2008 in Indianapolis.

In partnership with the Center for Food Integrity, Michigan State University and Purdue University, Pork magazine will host discussions on pork-food chain responsibilities regarding:

  • Food safety
  • Animal well-being
  • Human capital
  • Environment

Threats and challenges confronting the US pork food chain will be a hot topic at the conference.

The event is aimed at senior professionals within the pork industry such as pork producers, swine veterinarians, government officials and export specialists. Keynote speakers include Jennifer Garrett, director of nutrition marketing for Kellogg’s, setting the stage for Responsible Pork’s activities.

Editor of Pork magazine, Marlys Miller, commented that open dialogue within the pork food chain is paramount in order to produce safe, high-quality products for the consumer.
