Piglets for Thai farmers

23-10-2007 | |

The project ‘give a pig’ initiated by Ruban van Beek, from Delft in the Netherlands, for agriculture in Thailand has been a huge success.

Van Beek came across the idea during a trip with his Thai girlfriend last year through Thailand when he was confronted with the extreme poverty of the farmers there.

The project involves giving a piglet plus a bag of feed worth €60 to the poorest farmers.

Back in the Netherlands, he purchased 600 pigs and has spread them among a number of companies.

In the meantime, the first piglets have arrived.
