Royal DSM has announced that Chris Goppelsroeder will become DSM’s Nutritional Products president and CEO.
Chris Goppelsroeder (1959), currently global head of the seed care business of Syngenta, will join DSM on January 1, 2013 as president and CEO, DSM Nutritional Products, reporting to Stephan Tanda, member of the managing board of DSM and responsible for the Nutrition cluster.
Goppelsroeder will succeed Leendert Staal, currently president and CEO of DSM Nutritional Products, who after a very successful career of ten years at DSM, will retire at the end of February, 2013. Staal has made tremendous contributions to the company, first in DSM Pharmaceutical Products, later at DSM Nutritional Products, which he built into a strong, global and highly successful organization and industry leader.
Goppelsroeder, a Swiss national, was a member of the Managing Board of DSM from 2005 to 2006, prior to his current position at Syngenta. During that period, he was responsible for a number of businesses in the Performance Materials and Industrial Chemicals clusters and also had corporate responsibility for Marketing and for the regions Europe and Japan. He left for family reasons.
Goppelsroeder came to DSM through the acquisition of the Roche Vitamins and Fine Chemicals Business where he spent a considerable part of his career, based in Switzerland, Belgium and the USA, building significant international experience in the life sciences industry.
