NTUC FairPrice reacts to tampered pork packet

02-11-2007 | |

The Singapore-based National Trade Union Congress supermarket (NTUC FairPrice) is to file a report with the police over tampering with its pork packaging.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) alerted the supermarket over a packet of the supermarket’s Pasar brand of pork with a ‘halal’ sticker on it.

‘Halal’ products are especially for muslims who are not permitted to eat foods containing pork.

Deliberate act
The company stated that this was a “deliberate act to interfere with its pork packaging and that the original packaging does not have such a sticker”.

All necessary steps will be taken by NTUC FairPrice to ensure that this unfortunate event does not reoccur.
