Triumph Foods can move forward in building a $114 million pig processing plant in East Moline, Illinois, US.
The East Moline City Council has approved $20 million in tax increment financing (TIF) assistance.
The plant will eventually employ 1,000 people and process approximately 15,000 pigs per day.
The plans for the project were already announced in late 2005 and the company intends to begin construction this summer.
The municipal assistance will be used to expand sewage treatment facilities, extend water and sewer lines to the site and give the company money to do on-site improvements.
