New nursery panel provides piglet stability

A German housing manufacturer has introduced a chess slat structure to prevent piglets to suffer from slippery surfaces.

MIK International company launched Chess, specifically developed as nursery panel for animals up to 60 kg weight. A chessboard patterned slat surface provides better step-safety to the piglets in every direction of movement. In addition, its span width of 800 mm reduces the number of required support beams.

The product is a hygienic panel demonstrating stability and easy handling.

The Siersahn-based company launched the product after comments from several customers, to find a solution to slippery slat surfaces, as these could be harmful to young piglets.

As planned, the product will be shown on the next edition of EuroTier in Hanover, Germany, 11-14 November.
