More meat imports into Russia

Russia’s Federal Customs Service announced that Russian meat imports increased by 14.6% in volume in the first eight months of 2007, compared to last year.

The US Meat Export Federation said that Russia imported about 36,000 metric tonnes of US pork during that period.


Altogether, Russia imported 840,600 metric tonnes of meat (not including poultry), with a value of $2.051 billion from January to August.


A year before, about 733,000 metric tonnes were imported, worth $1.512 billion.
