US pork prices are setting record highs. As a result, Manitoba hog producers are getting closer to achieving profit profitability.
This is the consequence of soaring US exports, according to Tyler Fulton, director of risk management with Manitoba Pork Marketing. He said that these record prices are being set at a time when North American supplies are as high as they’ve ever been. It is further reported that American exports are being driven by the decreased value of the dollar.
Fulton says that it will be interesting to see how the industry acts when North American production numbers peak in October and November.
