Luciano Roppa new president of Nutreco Brazil

Dr Luciano Roppa, a prominent figure in Brazil’s pork industry, has been appointed as managing director of Nutreco Brazil.

Starting officially January 1, 2014, he will be responsible for Nutreco’s business in Brazil, which currently includes seven plants and 720 employees. His main goal is to increase Nutreco’s participation in Brazil – and to develop new market opportunities in the swine and poultry sectors.

In the last years, the Netherlands-based animal nutrition company acquired two companies in Brazil: FriRibe (four years ago) and Bellman (two years ago). Both are very active in ruminants and aquaculture.

Roppa will also be responsible for the sales for two other Nutreco-owned companies, i.e. Sloten and Selko.

Roppa worked an independent consultant, and was president of the Forum on Swine Production during the last PorkExpo in Curitiba. He graduated as a veterinarian from Paulista State University in 1972 and had been working in the animal protein market as from 1973.
