Japan: Another detection of H1N1 in pigs

Reports have stated that another case of the H1N1 strain of influenza virus in pigs has been discovered in Japan.

This is the second case reported since last year October when the first case was uncovered.

In the recent case, some pigs at a farm in Yamagata Prefecture have been confirmed to have been infected with the virus.

Pigs to stay put/ Human transmission
The farm’s operator has been asked not to move pigs out of the facility by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry and it stated that the virus may have been passed on by a human.
