Exports impact US pork industry

16-11-2006 | |

According to Jon Caspers, vice chair from the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF), the pork industry profits from exports.

Caspers says the US has enjoyed 15 years of record pork exports. He believes that the US is very competitive and maintains a good system which continually adapts to meet the requirements of foreign markets.

“In 1995, we actually became a network exporter for the first time, which is quite a milestone and that’s just continued to build and we just continue to sell more and more pork.”

Caspers continues to say that the pork industry has seen 33 months of continuous profitability.

“A big part of that has been the growth in exports to really move that product into markets because we’re raising record numbers of pigs.”
