European supermarkets against unsedated castration

29-01-2007 | |

The European retail organisation Eurocommerce has launched a plea for a ban on unsedated castration.

In the Dutch newspaper Agrarisch Dagblad, Marc Jansen of the Dutch Central Bureau for Food Retail (CBL) made these comments on behalf of the European industry organisation Eurocommerce.

Eurocommerce, representing European supermarkets, emphasises alternatives need to be found to prevent the existence of boar taint in pork.

The CBL itself has already been advocating unsedated castration for some time now.
