Eli Lilly announces new appointment

Eli Lilly and Company today announced the appointment of Jeff Simmons as president of Elanco Animal Health, a division of Lilly. As of January 1, 2008, Simmons will replace Pat James.

James will assume the role of Special Advisor on Agriculture Corporate Development to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA).

Since 2006, Simmons has been Elanco’s executive director of US operations and global research and development.

Since joining Lilly in 1989 as a sales representative, he has held a variety of leadership roles in Elanco, including sales management, international marketing, and geographic business leadership for both Brazil and western Europe.

From 2003 to 2006, he was executive director of Elanco’s US operations.

“Jeff is an excellent choice to lead Elanco on account of his broad experience and track record in delivering outstanding results,” said John C Lechleiter, Lilly’s president and chief operating officer.

Elanco Animal Health, located in Indiana, is a global research-based company that develops and markets products for animal health and production in more than 100 countries.
