De Heus acquires Vietnamese feed firms

02-03-2009 | |

De Heus Feeds in the Netherlands has acquired two Vietnamese feed companies – Indochine Feeds and PG Richfarm. The activities of the two will be integrated and will produce under the new name: De Heus Vietnam LLC.

Indochine Feeds is located 60 kilometres north of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). PG Richfarm is located in Haiphong. Together, these companies have an annual feed production of 120,000 tonnes. De Heus Vietnam LLC will focus on compound feed and premixes for pigs, broilers and ducks.

Growth strategy

These acquisitions fit in the company’s strategy to grow on the international feed market. This is achieved trough purchasing local feed mills where intensive agriculture is important. In 2008, De Heus produced a total of 2.9 million metric tonnes on its 23 locations worldwide (of which 11 are located in the Netherlands).
