Danish piglet exports grow steadily

03-11-2006 | |

Piglet exports from Denmark have been growing in the last year, as was expected. Until the month of September, the Danish exported 2.6 million piglets, a 14% year-on-year rise.

The majority of the exported animals went to the German market. The export growth is a result of a tendency towards an emphasis of keeping sows in Denmark, due to strict manure laws.

In addition, productivity has increased on Danish sow farms. In three year’s time the Danish piglet export more than doubled.
