Danish pig population grows by 8%

The number of pigs in Denmark rose by 8% in the fourth quarter 2006 to 13.6 million in comparison to the same period in 2005, the national statistics office has said.

Pigs, which outnumber the Danish population of 5.4 million people by more than two-to-one, are the biggest consumers of feed grain in Denmark.
