Charoen Pokphand Group, Thailand’s food manufacturer and swine farm operator, is to expand its home-grown retail community stores, CP Fresh Marts.
Dr Sarasin Viraphol, CP executive vice president, commented in Pig Progress recently that his company was following a strategy of “boundarylessness”.
This could not be truer, as recent company developments have proved.
The latest “venture” is the planned expansion of CP Fresh Marts home-grown retail community stores that would be focused on providing CP’s quality, fresh, ready-to-eat foods.
CP Fresh Marts, will be patterned after the French Picard store model, says Jakchai Nutprayoon, senior vice-president of the CPF Trading Company, a unit of CPF, and will have 700 stores by year-end 2008, making it “one of Thailand’s and the region’s fastest growing retail chains”, that will also be launching other food services, such as restaurants and hotel chains.
