CDC publishes interim guidance for swine workers

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published interim guidance for workers who are employed at commercial swine farms to prevent the spread of influenza A viruses, including the Novel H1N1 virus.

This interim guidance contains information about recognizing the signs of flu in pigs, taking steps to prevent the transmission of influenza viruses from pigs to people and vice versa, surveillance and monitoring of workers’ health, identifying high risk groups, administering influenza antiviral drugs and vaccinating swine workers.
