British retail increases pork prices

27-03-2008 | |

Tesco and Asda, the two largest British retailers, have increased their prices of pork.

The British National Pig Association announced three price increases ranging from 5 to 10% per kilo in the last month.

Less pork appears to be on offer in these supermarkets.

The higher prices are only valid for fresh pork and do not apply to bacon, ham or other pork products.

It is expected that the public will accept the increases in light of the recent mass protests by pig farmers in London and other major cities.
