Aussie pig farmers to change stalls before 2017

23-04-2007 | |

Agricultural ministers have given Australian pig farmers until 2017 to change the conditions in which they keep breeding sows.

Under the new code, length of the stalls will increase from 2 metres to 2.2 metres and remain 60 centimetres wide. Farmers will also have to reduce the amount of time sows spend in the stalls, from 16 weeks to 6 weeks.
