Agromek attendance of 64,997

Agromek 2008 in Herning, Denmark closed on Saturday last with a total attendance of 64,997.

Attendance at Agromek in 2007 was higher at 67,818. The 2008 figure is not entirely comparable with the figures for the past years. Formerly, the numbers of foreign visitors related to the total number of visitors and guests regardless as to whether they attended Agromek for one, two or three days.

In the past week, Agromek has had a total foreign attendance of 9,688 from 67 countries.

The majority of these foreign visitors came from Germany with a total of 1,797 guests and Sweden had a total of 1,217. Norway had 1,132 and Finland 515 visitors respectively.

The Chairman of Agromek, Peter Hansen, commented that the exhibition was good “with an impressive number of enquiries and orders from Danish and foreign farmers.”

“This year, we have only been open for five days and it seems that exhibitors and visitors have accepted that the VIP day on the Monday has been dropped. In view of this, we can only be pleased that we have attained an attendance of 64,997.”

Hansen also noted that Agromek is being increasingly used as a venue for meetings and conferences.

“Again this year, we can note that, among other groups, pig producers hold their meetings and conferences in connection with Agromek – and I feel certain that this is a tendency that will increase in the future.”

The next Agromek Exhibition will be held during the period 25-29 November 2008.
