Adisseo, manufacturer of enzymes for monogastric feeds, has announced the results of most recent in vivo trials on piglets. Used ‘on top’ of the feed, the addition of Rovabio® leads to heavier piglets at the end of the post-weaning period or reduces the time spent by piglets on the farm.
Recent trials on Adisseo’s multi enzyme preparation Rovabio® show most interesting results on piglet performance. The addition of Rovabio® “on-top” of the piglets feed ensures an increased feed intake. Depending on the type of diet, this increase can be up to 5%. Additionally, daily weight gain is increased from 5% to 7.2%.
The use of Rovabio® on top of the feed also leads to a better feed conversion, from -1.1% to – 2%. This improvement of the feed conversion is similar for the different types of feed: corn-based, wheat-based as well as barley-based diets. Trials have also shown that the addition of Rovabio® does not only improve energy digestibility yield. It also minimises the impact of nutrient content variability within raw materials.
Two and a half years have been necessary to conduct the many trials in order to obtain reliable conclusions. “We wanted to bring in new, specific piglets in vivo results. In fact, the objective was to provide producers, who choose the ‘on top’ strategy, significant proof that Rovabio® will improve piglet productivity and profitability. Our researchers team has built a protocol of 2 treatments x 8 replicates x 1 piglet per cage at our Nutrition Research and Expertise Center (CERN), based in Comentry (Allier – France)”, explains Pierre Dalibard, Global Technical Manager.
With Rovabio®, piglets’ weight within batches is homogeneous. As a result, the entire batch spends less time in the post-weaning facility and the turn-over of the farm is improved© by two to six© days.©
