23 Steps to Improve Swine Barn Environment

02-07-2008 | |

Prairie Swine Centre has published a report detailing 23 improvements which can be made in the barn environment.

The report is broken down in to 3 sections covering manure management, ventilation and other miscellaneous items. The report includes suggestions and possible cause and effects of changes in the barn environment.

For example within the manure management section it states; “Never allow manure to build up closer than 12″ to the bottom of the slats. Gas begins to enter the confinement area and effect performance if manure builds up beyond this level”.
