Russia: New CSF outbreak reported in Amur

An outbreak of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) has been reported in the village of in Mikhailovka in the Amur region of Russia, not far from the Russian/Chinese boarder.

The Deputy head of Russia’s Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance service (Rosselkhoznadzor) Dr Evgeny Nepoklonov’, reported the outbreak to the OIE on 15 November.

The outbreak began on 28 October and was first confirmed on 6 November. So far 4 pigs have been infected. CSF is contagious and occurrences must be reported.

There was a previous outbreak in the area on 16 October, when 5 pigs were infected and 1 died.
