Is H7N9 avian influenza a threat to pigs?

An outbreak of H7N9 avian influenza has been reported recently in China and there have been concerns regarding it being a threat to pigs and investigations are still underway.

Despite no evidence thus far being available which indicates that the virus can be transmitted to swine, there is additional testing being carried out in Chinese farms “and experimental inoculations of pigs with this virus will be performed,” said a report.
