App for identifying swine diseases

Bayer HealthCare is rapidly moving into the world of tablets and social media by expanding the Bayer Farm website with knowledge on animal diseases – available through an app.

The company announced the BayerFarm Animal Health app in a press conference at EuroTier, in Hanover, Germany. The information is also accessible through the company’s improved website (in German): www.bayerfarm.de.

For swine, not surprisingly, the major focus is on parasites and bacterial diseases for which the German animal health company provides solutions.

The app offers contact possibilities to approach a veterinarian and to share pictures taken by a smartphone or tablet.

At this moment, the app is only available in German. Michelle Rekitt, product management food animal products told at a press conference that but interest from other countries has been substantial, so access of this knowledge in other languages is likely to happen.
