Fernando Rodriguez is the head of a Research line devoted to work in African swine fever (ASF) at CReSA, the animal research health program from IRTA (Agriculture Research and Technology Institute from the Generalitat de Catalonia). He also coordinates the EXOTIQUES Subprogram within CReSA, a subprogramme devoted to work with highly transmissible diseases requiring BSL-3 facilities for their handling, including ASF and may others diseases, some of them with zoonotic potential. Dr Rodriguez finished his PhD in Biology in 1994 and after a 5-year postdoctoral stay at The Scripps Research Centre (La Jolla, California). He returned to Spain where he received grants from the Spanish Governments and in 2003 he finally moved to CReSA (Barcelona).
