Toy carrousel avoids boredom for pigs

German livestock equipment company Weda will launch an automatic system on rails, to which various occupation materials for piglets and finishing pigs can be attached.

The so-called ‘PlayLine’ ensures that the toys can be drawn from one pen to another in order to provide the animals once or twice daily with new occupation material. This way, the occupation materials remains permanently attractive for the animals.

The innovation was introduced as distraction material is known to lose its appeal to pigs after a while. A special feature of the new system includes a mechanism which pulls the occupation materials over the separating pen walls.

Almost all variations of distraction materials can be fastened to the chains, like balls, rings or ropes.

Weda can be found in Hall 9, booth E15.
